Niger Tornadoes VS Akwa United : Otobong Effiong, Ariwachukwu Emmanuel, Musa Newman missing through injury
Akwa United will be missing the services of the influential trio of Captain Otobong ’Wiper’ Effiong, defence strong-man Ariwachukwu Emmanuel and star striker Musa Newman when they face Niger Tornadoes in Lokoja on Wednesday.
According to the media officer of the Aiteo Cup Champions, Mfon Patrick, the skipper of the side, Effiong had a knock during their 2-0 win against Yobe Stars while Ariwachukwu has not recovered from a bout of chicken-pox disease which kept him out of the home win against Yobe Stars. Another defender, Godspower Igudia, reportedly down with malaria last week has recovered and is in Lokoja. With Ariwachukwu’s, absence, this has calmed a lot of frayed nerves.
NEWS LINK also learnt that an injury picked-up by striker Newman few weeks ago in pre-season has not healed hence his continued absence. Former Remo Stars talisman, Victor Mbaoma and fan’s favorite, Christian Pyagbara should effectively continue to fill that void.
